Cal Poly Pomona Solar Boat Club Hull Models

  • Fabricated scale models of new hull designs from high-density foam using a custom-designed 3-axis CNC machine.

    • Machine: Custom 3-Axis CNC Machine

    • CAD Software: Solidworks

    • CAM Software: HSMworks

  • Created foam models to serve as plugs for fiberglass mold production.

    • Fiberglass hull models were then used for fluid flow testing.

  • Divided hull models into multiple segments due to CNC machine work area constraints.

  • Added keys and slots to each segment to aid in alignment during assembly.
